The Reggio Emilia Approach reflects the educational philosophy of the inspirational pedagogue, Loris Malaguzzi. This approach was put to practice in Reggio Emilia, Italy, transforming the region both culturally and financially. It was founded on Malaguzzi’s pedagogical principle that “the child has a hundred languages (and a hundred hundred hundred more) but they steal ninety-nine”. That is, although children are born with innumerable potentialities, the societal environment and conventional school methods suppress them. In the face of all this, Malaguzzi suggested child-led learning driven by the children’s interests and queries.
